What Is Actually True
- Visit Joplin says the gang stayed in a garage apartment for nearly two weeks in April 1933 and the confrontation was April 13.
- Lawmen came on a tip that bootleggers might be hiding there; the gang opened fire and fled in a Ford V8, and two lawmen died, per the page.
- The Dorothea B. Hoover Historical Museum, part of the Joplin History and Mineral Museum Complex, displays a photo of Bonnie Parker and jewelry the gang left behind.
- The apartment is private property, so we print no address. See the museum instead.
We read a tourism bureau page, not a museum page; the city page would not load.
